Louisville is probably one of the most exciting cities, especially when it comes to a family-friendly event. However, there are only few(I think) that can be considered as family friendly. 

I decided to just choose some of the most family-friendly and educational events happening over the weekend (except for the thunder over).

FoodFest and Ford’s Thunder On the Ground open at 11:00 AM, Airshow at 3:00 PM, fireworks at 9:30 PM. Featuring the Thunder Chow Wagon at Waterfront Park and the East River Road Beer Garden. Admission is free with a 2016 Pegasus Pin. (Open 11AM – 11PM. NO FOOD, DRINK, TENTS, STAKES, TAPE OR PETS.) North Great Lawn area opens at 9 AM. Admission is free with a 2016 Pegasus Pin. It's Thunder weekend 18th-century style at Locust Grove, commemorating the arrival of Revolutionary War troops in 1778 under the command of General George Rogers Clark. Talk to the soldier-reenactors and their families, learn about battle tactics, and participate in a wreath-laying ceremony honoring Clark, with a 21-gun salute. Read more at locustgrove.org

Explore the history of the education of people who are blind in a fun and accessible setting. Write your name using a mechanical braille writer. Learn about other raised-letter and tactile alphabets that once competed with braille. Experience what it is like to have a wealth of knowledge at the tips of your fingers.
