As we start 2016, you might be wondering about the neighborhoods that made it to the Top 5 list of the most expensive neighborhoods in Louisville. What makes a neighborhood expensive? They are near the city, gated community, how the safety of the residents is being prioritized, amenities available within the neighborhood, zip code, how established the neighborhood is, and etc.

There are more factors to consider, more than what I have mentioned above. But, we all have to keep in mind that living in the most expensive neighborhood doesn't mean it's always nice. Here are some tips to help you know that the home you like is within a great neighborhood, no matter what the price is.

  • There is a low crime rate for violent and home breaking crimes.
  • Your neighborhood and your lifestyle match. Living in a great neighborhood and a lifestyle that you cannot afford or the other way around will make you really unhappy.
  • If you have kids, it's important that the school near your neighborhood is the best or a school with a good rating and reviews.
  • Outdoor activities to keep you and your family fit.
  • Family friendly environment.
  • Easy access to transport services, hospitals, shopping and nightlife.
  • Being able to not use your car on a daily basis or the walkability to some of what I've mentioned above. Read more at www.forbes.com
