2 weeks ago, I have compiled the home styles/ designs. This time, I thought that it's might be nice to have all concepts compiled in one blog. Which of the Concepts do you see yourself being comfortable with? and Why? If you will ask me, I love the Victorian, and Baroque style. It's classy and timeless. I love the fact that the victorian and baroque style can have the modern feel without losing their elegant feel. Designing your home, your furniture preference, color, and arrangement; always reflect you as a person. Notice how a modernist designs their home, how artistic people design their home and etc. I love how you can somewhat see the person's character through their chosen home design.

There are so many Interior Design Concepts out there. Designers will always have an inspiration and turn it to their own creation, thus, becomes another trend. Don't you just love the interior design industry? It's always evolving, there is always a design for everyone and one concept can be combined with another concept.

So, here are the list of Interior Design: Style, Year and Concept:

1. AMERICAN: 4 distinct 'American' interior design styles:

a. American Colonial Style

It focuses on function and practicality and is still popular today. American colonial interior design became popular throughout North America during the early 18th century. The design style replicates many of the traditional European homes of that era and is heavily influenced by early American farmhouses mixed with grand homes of Old Europe to provide this sensational Americana decorating style.

There are two ways to go with this design concept as it can be both rustic interior design or sophisticated. Rustic is the 'everyday man's' home from that period and the alternative is a more luxurious look that was then only available to those who could afford it. The Colonial period encompasses about 200 years, so it is not surprising that it includes a progression of styles from the simple basic and rough-hewn to the classic lines and finesse of Queen Anne style. b. Southwestern Style often in incorporates a bold color palette and light colored wood.

It is a style inspired by the rich, earthy tones found in Arizona and New Mexico mixed with influences from Hispanic settlers. We see reflections of Spain and Mexico within the designs and Arizona style. The architecture of homes in the Southwestern region has large rooms, high ceilings with exposed beams and spectacularly spacious entrances. All to reflect the vast, surrounding landscape. -Source: http://www.interiordesignipedia.com

c. Shaker Style is simplistic and furniture is made from quality wood.
During the mid-1700's a religious sect was founded in England, UK. In 1774, the first Shaker village was set up in America. They remained in New England and New York where they lived lives of abstinence. They believed in simplicity, communal living, and common ownership.

Every object in the home was devoid of decoration therefore interiors were rustic and raw. This austerity can be gathered from two of their favored sayings, 'whatever is fashioned, let it be plain and simple and for the good' and 'Beauty rests on utility'. They also firmly believed that their work was a testament to God, which meant that each item that was painstakingly honed to perfection. Oprah Winfrey is said to be a huge fan of the Shaker style. d. Patriotic Style themes include the American flag, American icons, and American retro.
This design concept depends heavily on the impact of the colors to influence the space. Yip, red, white and blue. I suggest you avoid going for the bright, bold, primary colors like those in the flag, instead go for subtle tones like what has been used in the above image or as seen in the below images. It would not be too wise to set about painting your walls in red, white and so stick to introducing color within your decor. Source:http://www.interiordesignipedia.com

2. Art Nouveau

It has been said often that Art Nouveau interior design is, in fact, the original modern style of the 20th century, as it was the first style to stop looking back in time for inspiration.Art Nouveau was influenced by ideas of the natural world and what designers experienced around them, borrowing ideas from nature and reflecting them in magnificent fabrics and wallpaper.
From 1880 to 1910, art nouveau interior design was the height of originality and design excellence. The concept was first on show in Paris, France and then London, UK. It caused a huge fuss as people instantly loved it or loathed it.The two distinct looks that were commonly used by a nouveau artist are rational, linear lines and curves that take on organic shapes. - Source: http://www.interiordesignipedia.com
