One of the biggest questions that we often ask ourselves is if we should just buy or should we just renovate? It is one of the hardest questions that we can ask ourselves, considering the time, memories, upgrades that we have invested in our property and not tot mention the friends that we will leave behind once we move.

However, renovating your home sounds good when emotional factors get's in the way of our decision-making skills. It always boils down to the amount of money needed for the renovation. Are you going big or small, adding a room, or will it be a total make-over of your house?

There is always a bright side and  a downside in renovating and buying a property. So we decided to help you and have listed 5 Factors to consider before you decide to renovate or buy a home.

Here is the list of 5 Factors to Consider before deciding to Buy or Renovate your Home.

1.What exactly do you need?

It'll be easy for you to decide if what exactly do you need before you push through with your plan of renovating or buying a home. Determine what's making you unhappy with your home and what it is that you really want. Do you need another room, an additional bath, or an office?

Once you have determined what you need, check if you can have the extra room added in your current property. Check the layout of the house if there is anyway possible to have the other room added in your current property without compromising the best feature of your home.

2. Check your Town zoning and Building codes.

Check your town's zoning and building requirements before doing any renovations. This may cause some setbacks since there's a standard and limitation with how much land you can cover or the insulation requirements for the additional room that you will be adding.

You may also need to secure some permit and of course, there is the inspection of the added room being compliant with the requirements. With all this being needed, you can easily decide if you will renovate or buy a property instead.
