One of the things I love going on a road trip is the free attractions and the great company of your friends. Not to mention the food take out while trying to juggle while maintaining your balance while on the road.

I am one of those people who loves a free and unusual stuff. An unusual free stuff is hard to come by and always with a tag price attached. However, we are lucky enough to live in a state where some unusual stuff or unusual attractions can be found on the roadside or comes as a display or a really smart way to market their business.

Great job and thank you to the owner's and whoever thought of going big or weird on their display. You just know how to capture everyone's attention and admire your very well planned marketing strategy.

However, not all attractions are located in a not so scary place, some can be found in the cemetery and part of Louisville's amazing history. The best part is there's no entrance fee and it's free!

Just a friendly reminder to the younger generations or tourists who might be going on a road trip, be careful and don't mix driving and alcohol together, plus, respect the roadside attractions.

We want all future generations to experience and hopefully in time become a historical landmark for some of the attractions.

Thank you!

Without further chit-chat on my side, here is the list of the5 Perfect Road Trip Attractions in Louisville Kentucky Part 1.

1. 30-Foot-Tall Gold Statue of David

Address: 700 W. Main St., Louisville, KY

Unveiled in 2012, this fiberglass statue sets the standard for the biggest male package on public view in the U.S. It's a replica of Michelangelo's statue of David. The 16th century original remains in Florence, Italy, is carved in white marble, and is not nearly as tall.

This giant copy was created by Turkish-born New York City artist Serkan Ozkaya, who admitted that he had never seen Michelangelo's version. He based this one on a computer model previously created at Stanford University.

Ozkaya had some workers in Istanbul build two gold Davids; one remains there, the other now stands in downtown Louisville in front the 21c Museum Hotel, which calls itself the first museum in North America that exclusively exhibits the art of the 21st century.

2. Barrel-Shaped Ice Cream Stand

Address: Barrel of Fun, 9421 Smyrna Parkway, Louisville, KY

Barrel of Fun Ice Cream (The Barrel) was established in Louisville, Kentucky, Spring 1994.
A stand-alone building was purchased, red and white striped barrel, as an eye catcher. It took approx. 6-12 months to renovate the barrel and have it moved to a park like setting on Smyrna Parkway in Okolona. Additional space was added to support the necessary building requirements as well as dipping cabinets and equipment for food items.

In the beginning, The Barrel only served hand-dipped ice cream and a few food items. Through the years, additional items and space have been added to incorporate soft serve ice cream as well as other "Treats you Deserve".
